Wow, November is almost halfway over!

Wow, November 10th already... where does time go???? On Halloween Matt and I had alot of help from his dad, he came over and installed our new floor and started to install our vanity

On the journey of new flooring Matt and his father discovered that there was 5 layers of old lanoliums on the floor, instead to taking them up when they changed the flooring they just put it over. Sigh... so many surprises in this house of ours.

This is a picture of Matts dad putting the last piece of floor down. We like it, its just a tiled lanolium, hopefully when we redo the whole bathroom we will get real tiles on the floor.

This is a picture of the new vanity, my dad actually came out on the next day and hooked it up for us. Poor Matts dad was so exhausted after the floor craziness that we thought it would be best to let him go and have it done the next day. It was just so much work to do the floor.
I will include a more finished bathroom picture after we get the glass doors on the shower. Hopefully that will happen very soon!

And now just a picture to show off my beautiful sister and niece. She went as a pirate for halloween!

Well as with everything that is house progression at its best and remodeling we have hit a pause for a few days. Still no Vanity! Matt's dad is now coming over on Saturday to help us with it. Which really works out best for us all! But dang I so want to see how pretty my bathroom will be when done. In all the adventure of the day yesturday we decieded to hang our tv in the bedroom on the wall! Let me tell ya if you need a wallmount go to Lowe's! Best Deal ever, cost us around 50.00 the only ones we could find other places would have cost us over 100.00. This is also the full range wallmount it works amazing! Well in all the excitement to hang it up, the battery on the drill died, while it was still in the wall. It was so funny. I never laughed so hard. I have included a picture of the excitement.

Our New Medicine Cabinet all pretty and hanging up. Only a few more things to do, of course they are big things. But hey at least we some wonderful and beautiful things already set up in our bathroom.

The Drill stuck in the wall! It was an adventure for sure! At least you can tell we enjoyed ourselves! Matt was all smiles and laughs!
The tv looks beauiful on the wall, we have moved all the cords and hung a cute shelf to hold the cable box. It looks amazing!

Okay so in my last post, I updated you on the work. Here are some pictures on how it went. My sister worked really hard on gettin wallpaper down she gets a little excited and ripped a little in the process.

Isnt she so cool, she was such a help and a hard worker. I could never have done this and she just went crazy and did it all!

My husband was such a huge help too. He put the whole first coat of paint on the walls and sanded them down. He did an amazing job!

I put the final coat on, Looks awesome if I say so myself. Its a silver gray color that will go perfect with our towels and new vanity!

We put the new Vanity Mirror/Medicine Cabinet up tonite, and I took pictures. I will try to post tomorrow. Only 4 trys later and we found the perfect one! Tuesday, Matt is putting the tiles down and hopefully the new vanity!
Loves All!

Wow, I cant believe October is almost over

Seems like it has been forever since I posted on here. Matt and I have been so super busy, still nothing done on the upstairs hallway but we have taken the dreadful old wallpaper down in the bathroom and have painted the walls. Let me say that was an experience in itself. My sister was an amazing help, she literally pulled all the wallpaper down by herself while I played/watched my niece. Matt patched and sanded so many times we thought it would never get done. There are still minor imperfections but its an old house and seriously what can ya do. I love this house but it will be such a blessing when most of it is done. After the bathroom is done we are going to finish the hallway and then on to what we refer to as the moose room. Currently its a catch all, but it will someday be a baby room. NO, I am not preggos. We just want to get the nasty wallpaper down and repair the damage to the walls. At some point a while ago there was termites so there is some minor sheet rock damage we will have to repair. Thankfully that won't be to hard. My it seems so crazy that October is almost over, I cant believe that Matt and I have been married 6mths, and own a house. We are so excited with each new thing we get to learn and do within our home.

Bathroom updates:
Remove Wallpaper---- Check thats done
Sand and Putty Holes--- Check thats done
Paint---Check finished it today
Install New Vanity--- Hope to have in this weekend
Install New Vanity Mirror---Hope to have done tonite
Install Glass Shower doors---Plan on having done this weekend
Install Glass Block Window--- Hopefully in the near future
Put Down Tile Floors--- Hopefully part if not all done this weekend
Paint Door--- Honestly the least of my worries

So much done and so much still to do, its crazy what needs to be done. I will add pictures this weekend! Love to all!

Here We Go Again.....

Wow, reminds me of an OK GO song..... But My hubby has Posion Ivy again, so needless to say he is back to the itching. So are friend Nick was over working on our last few electric things and we were telling him about it and Matt said he couldnt figure out where it was. Cause well he wasnt sure what it looked like, just knew it had 3 leaves. So Nick said were you working in the backyard and went out back. Well, second he walked out there he was like.... This is it here, here, here, here.... all over here. And probably some over here too. OH MY WORD!! Its all over the place, so needless to say we are going to get some weed spray and Matt is not touching the weeded area of the backyard until its dead and we have has snow to make sure it is doubley dead.

So My Hubby is super excited we are going to see MU play today. So what did we have to do last nite, when he realized he didnt have a hat to go with his shirt. Yea.. We went shopping. He is so funny. This his first time to a college football game and well me too... So its super exciting in the HOBBS house for him.

My Hubby and My Meow

So it just dawned on me I have yet to introduce my extremely handsome husband and my super wonderful Kittt Kat! These pictures are from our wedding. I love this one, so does Matt. Its one of his favorites. I think he looks amazing. Of course funny thing is he is not very good at pool!

This is Matt with his brother Kevin! I think they both looked very nice in their tuxes!

This is our beautiful family, On the left is Matt's Mom and Dad(Patti and Doug) and then Matt and Me and on the right is my Mom and Dad(Jet and Don)

This is our baby, Charlotte! We used to call her Charlie for short... But well, she loves to listen to her own voice so now she is known as MEOW. I rolled over the other day to find her asleep next to me on Matt's Pillow. I sent him a picture and he was like WHAT THE HECK!!! He keeps finding her up there now and is like did you put her up there? I love it, it cracks me up cause she does it on her own.

This is a great picture of her, she is so pretty. I think she is the most adorable cat ever!

Well, this was my hubby and meow, I think they are wonderful hope you enjoyed!

Wow do I sound lazy......

Okay so I was just rereading my last post and realized that it sounds like I sleep all the time. So I figure I should probably explain that a bit. I myself work Nights. Which means I go to work at 11pm and get off at 7am. So while I am sleeping which is usually 7am or 8am to 4pm. My hubby on his days off usually works on stuff around the house. So it seems like he does alot, cause he does and unfortunatly with my job when I am up I am usually still extremly tired. But that should all change hopefully in January. Cause I have senority finally and shift bids will be coming back around. And I should be going to days. Of course that means my hubby will have to get used to sharing the bed and not hogging the bed. Which he likes to do when I am off and able to sleep with him. LOL, he could be in the middle of the bed and I could be falling off and he will whine I'm on the edge. He totally cracks me up! Sigh, I love the pain in the butt. His poor Posion Ivy still looks bad, but the backyard is looking pretty amazing. I will have pictures soon. Loves all!

Itchy and Amazing Man

My poor hubby, got himself posion ivy. So as anyone who knows what its like he is itchy itchy itchy. But he is so amazing. He pulled out these giant tree/bush things in the backyard that really had no place there and a bunch of the weeds. Well now he has posion ivy, so that really stinks. But he is such a trooper. He even went back out last nite with gloves, long sleeve shirt, and long pants. It was so cute. Also yesturday Matt's dad, who is such a sweetie. Came over and helped him with more stuff. They got the whole in the wall between the kitchen and the living room boxed in. So now I will be able to put something pretty and decorative on it. I am super excited. Of course I will have to paint it first and they still need to put the trim around it. But its still so pretty. I LOVE IT! Matt and I celebrated 5 months of marriage yesturday. We were excited. Its funny cause everyone said we would argue at least once. Nope, Matt and I don't fight. We talk about things, if something is bothering the other person we stop and talk about it. Its pretty amazing. I love this man so much! He is my everything.
Laters!

PS I forgot to add, the other day I woke up from my daily sleep to find he painted the entire entry way while I was sleeping. It looks so beautiful and amazing! I married a totally amazing and wonderful man!

BBQ

Well, finally we got a grill. It only took buying one in a box to put together. Discovering there is no way we will ever get it together. Returning it, trying to fit an already assembled one in the back of my mom's mountaineer. Well as you can imagine. We had to take the top off of the new one to get it in there. We finally got it home put together. And we used it last nite(Sun). We had well, Matt had steak and I had turkey dogs. He did an awesome job burning them!!! LOL, yeah I like my food burnt.

Progress

Well, it has been a little while since we worked more on the home. But today while I was sleeping, Matt and his Dad, worked on the house. The sanded and puttied all the holes in the hallway from the front door. I cant wait to paint it! Its going to look so stinking awesome!! Matt also mowed the front yard it looked beautiful!! Now on to the upstairs hallway and removing the leftover wallpaper and we will have the main rooms finished and then open house time!!!

Tonite, My best friend and I went and saw Green Day in concert. It was stinking awesome!!! I loved it. Of course my body aches, my throat and voice are scratchy and I can barley hear. But it was so worth it!!!

Finally Picture Updates!

Well, it only took.....forever! But I finally have the pictures of what we have changed in the house. I swear we have been super super busy. Of course it doesnt help that this weekend, my dad finished putting the new door from the house to garage together. And well decided to cut some wires to what he thought was the security system. Yeah, NO!!! he cut the wires from the thermostat to the air condition. Well, thankfully he fixed it of course that was after trying to sleep the whole nite in an 86 degree house. But ya know, ya learn. I did tell my dad he is not to cut anymore wires until we make sure where they go. :)
So here we go updates!

Okay so here is our new front door. We love it, so very pretty. As you can see around the door there is glue on the wall. We took off all the wood paneling and wallpaper. It so much nicer now. Of course it will be even better when we get done painting it. I think Matt and his Dad are going to work on it on Wendesday.

When you walk up the 1st set of stairs. I am not sure if ya all remember this room, but it was covered with dark gray wood paneling. And had carpet on the floor. We removed all the ugly wood paneling and painted it this beautiful yellow color. We also pulled up the ugly carpet, to reveal pretty wood flooring. It will eventually need to be refinished but for right now it is beautiful!

There used to be really ugly spindles and stuff in the window from kitchen to living room. We took them out and they are being replaced with just flat wood leaving a pretty open space.

So we have not redone the bathroom yet. But i think the plain white shower curtain looks awesome with the wallpaper. Its fun wallpaper but, it will be coming down when we redo the bathroom.

The Master bedroom had wood paneling on the walls and ugly, ugly purple/pink carpet. So we removed the carpet and the wood paneling on this side of the room. Painted it blue and left the pretty wood floors. We also addedd a double bar closet system. That we are going to hang a curtain in front of it.

On the other half of the bedroom we left the wood paneling up. And painted over it with a slightly darker shade and we got new tannish colored shaggy carpet to replace the purple/pink.
So I guess that is our newly updated house so far in a nutshell. As soon as I have more the share I will. Have Super Days!

Can't wait till we Paint!

Well, as more days go... on and on and on and on and on. LOL, I am happy or yet shocked to discover its hard to make progress on this house. We have carpet on the stairs and the hall. Carpet which I want to pull up so bad, but we are waiting until we paint to pull it up. Mainly due to the fact we dont want to have to worry about getting paint on our pretty hardwood floors. I am absolutly exhausted in the afternoons anymore. Due to the fact I work nights and my body is starting to take a toll from it. Matt is working hard and we seem to be busy on the weekends when we would have time to work on the house. Birthday party here, joining costco there. Which reminds me, Matt and I are now members of Costco. Very exciting, indeed. I know so goofy we are but so dang excited too. Its actually alot of fun to walk thru this giant store that has all this stuff you in no way need. I am really excited I am having a candle party this Friday and I have people coming over and I can't wait to show them my new home. Its super exciting owning a home of your own. Which reminds me I need to call my sister and see if my brother in law is available to work on the house at all this weekend. He has been such a big help to us. :) I know I keep promising pics and I do promise they are coming soon, just havent had time to take them. Have Super Days!

Drama, Drama and more Drama!

So as if nothing else could go wrong. So simple yet, so wrong. I put our comforter in our new Washer and went to bed, 4hrs later I woke up and I noticed water on the floor in the garage. I thought probably happend due to the fact the comforter was so big. So I changed the laundry went back upstairs and checked on it 20min later. I opened the door to the sound of splashing water! Oh yeah... so when they hooked up the new washer they didnt put the drain hose all the way down the pipe and it came out. Water was all over the garage, I had to sweap it out. No exactly how I wanted to spend my day.

Matt and I were very excited when we realized at our new home we could get ATT U-Verse. So we set up to have them come out the day we moved in and set it up. Well. after being there 4 hrs they informed us that nope, we couldnt get it. We live to far from the box???? Who knows, it sucks. So then we decide to go with Direct TV. At 8am yest they called and confirmed our appoitment for between 3 and 5. So I went okay, 11:00 they call back oh, we cant come out today we need a different reciever for you and the warehouse is closed. Call the 800 and reschedule for monday. So I called them and they said oh the earliest we can get you in is Thursday and I said guy told me monday. We argued back and forth and in the end we cancelled and decided to stay with Time Warner. They are coming out today and gave us no problems when I called.

Crazy how complicated something as simple as getting cable in the house can be. Thats Life. I promise to update with pictures of the fixing up as soon as I can. We get out internet hooked up this afternoon with Time Warner comes out. Super days All!

Another Strange Day

Well, as each day goes it is a new exciting adventure. Today we had our Washer and Dryer delivered. We bought LG front loaders and they are now sitting in the garage. Of course I have already started my 4th load of laundry in them. And am in heaven. No more paying 1.25 a load for me. Matt and I have this ridiculously small closet in the Master Bedroom so we are hanging to rods in it. Well, Matt being the wonderful and some what quirky guy he is, decided he had to paint the closet, which in turn ment patching, sanding, and then painting. Oh, and did I fail to mention he didn't put primer on the walls, so really it needs a second coat. But I think he finally understands that well, its a closet and no one will see it. So since he did this at 10pm, my clothes are still in boxes waiting for the closet to be installed. Men, gotta love them! :)

Back to our Retro House!

The Hallway is well, humm... how do you say a mixture of flowered wall paper with almost a bedroom decor look. The pictures on the wall, which yes came with the house... well one was Mona Lisa that was taken out of a magazine and framed without glass.

The bathroom wallpaper is actually alot of fun, its a blue and pink stripe with cute pink and green flowers on it. The Pink tile is well, ugly! And there is a sliding glass window with a window sil in the shower. I am not sure what they were thinking when they paired it with a fish shower curtain. But hey to each there own.

The Master Bedroom, is huge 10x20, with 2 different kinds of wood paneling. The part with the light wood paneling is where they added on to the house in the 80's. We were really partial to the pinkish/purple carpet.

One of the 2 other rooms, has a little add on room to it, that is full of shelves. From what I have been told they were full of dolls, stacked to the ceiling.

In the 3rd bedroom, this beauty took up 1 whole wall. Yes that is a moose tapestry, with brown carpet pasted on the wall around it. It is so stunning! LOL, also to top it off the walls had blue stripped wallpaper on the other 3 walls, that was being held on with scotchtape.
So for the most part this is our new home in a nutshell. Next up tomorrow.... The Makeover!

What were we thinking?

Its hard to believe that last July 2nd I was single and living on my own in an apartment. So much has changed in a year. Only July 3rd I went on my first date with my now husband. Within 3 months we were engaged, 6 months after that we were married and now just a little over 3mths since being married we own a house. We don't do things slowly. Or at least it seems that way. Funny thing is, Matt and I are so layed back. We just kind of sit back and relax as others scurry around us.

So as this is my 1st blog about our adventures in well Married life and Home ownership. I think I will keep it simple and introduce the house. Oh, yes the house. Lets just say the 1st time we saw it, well it was like walking into the 70's. Wood paneling everywhere. And when i say everywhere I mean it. I think the only rooms that didnt have it was the bathroom and upstairs hallway. And of course none of it matched and as an extra bonus the kitched had a faux brick/wood paneling combo.
Ahh... Homeowner ship, got to love it.

Here is our home!

I am not a huge fan of the Brown and Yellow color combo, but that easily remided. We are thinking about doing a pretty red or even blue as the accent. Its a 2 car garage, the 2nd one was added on in the early 80's and is slightly smaller, but my car fits perfectly. I guess that means no trucks for me. It has been so long since I have had a garage. I would have done anything to make sure my car fit. :)

See..... I didn't lie when I said that there was wood paneling. This is old barn style. It was even rough, touching it I was afraid I would get splinters. There is an interesting window with spindles that you can see through to the kitchen. Also since the house is about 46 years old the Ceiling fan, was hangning by a chain in the living room. Needless to say that it was a huge safety hazard and wobbled alot.

I wasn't kidding about the brick/wood paneling combo. Yeah, Its something else, of course it is also lacking a garbage disposal and dishwasher. Poor Matt, he is the one that washes dishes in our house and now he has to do it by hand.
I think I will stop here for today, but keep an eye as I will post more info in the days to come. Stay reading so you can see all the amazing remodeling we have done. And we just closed on the house July 22nd.
Super Days and God Bless Ya All!
