Drama, Drama and more Drama!

So as if nothing else could go wrong. So simple yet, so wrong. I put our comforter in our new Washer and went to bed, 4hrs later I woke up and I noticed water on the floor in the garage. I thought probably happend due to the fact the comforter was so big. So I changed the laundry went back upstairs and checked on it 20min later. I opened the door to the sound of splashing water! Oh yeah... so when they hooked up the new washer they didnt put the drain hose all the way down the pipe and it came out. Water was all over the garage, I had to sweap it out. No exactly how I wanted to spend my day.

Matt and I were very excited when we realized at our new home we could get ATT U-Verse. So we set up to have them come out the day we moved in and set it up. Well. after being there 4 hrs they informed us that nope, we couldnt get it. We live to far from the box???? Who knows, it sucks. So then we decide to go with Direct TV. At 8am yest they called and confirmed our appoitment for between 3 and 5. So I went okay, 11:00 they call back oh, we cant come out today we need a different reciever for you and the warehouse is closed. Call the 800 and reschedule for monday. So I called them and they said oh the earliest we can get you in is Thursday and I said guy told me monday. We argued back and forth and in the end we cancelled and decided to stay with Time Warner. They are coming out today and gave us no problems when I called.

Crazy how complicated something as simple as getting cable in the house can be. Thats Life. I promise to update with pictures of the fixing up as soon as I can. We get out internet hooked up this afternoon with Time Warner comes out. Super days All!

Another Strange Day

Well, as each day goes it is a new exciting adventure. Today we had our Washer and Dryer delivered. We bought LG front loaders and they are now sitting in the garage. Of course I have already started my 4th load of laundry in them. And am in heaven. No more paying 1.25 a load for me. Matt and I have this ridiculously small closet in the Master Bedroom so we are hanging to rods in it. Well, Matt being the wonderful and some what quirky guy he is, decided he had to paint the closet, which in turn ment patching, sanding, and then painting. Oh, and did I fail to mention he didn't put primer on the walls, so really it needs a second coat. But I think he finally understands that well, its a closet and no one will see it. So since he did this at 10pm, my clothes are still in boxes waiting for the closet to be installed. Men, gotta love them! :)

Back to our Retro House!

The Hallway is well, humm... how do you say a mixture of flowered wall paper with almost a bedroom decor look. The pictures on the wall, which yes came with the house... well one was Mona Lisa that was taken out of a magazine and framed without glass.

The bathroom wallpaper is actually alot of fun, its a blue and pink stripe with cute pink and green flowers on it. The Pink tile is well, ugly! And there is a sliding glass window with a window sil in the shower. I am not sure what they were thinking when they paired it with a fish shower curtain. But hey to each there own.

The Master Bedroom, is huge 10x20, with 2 different kinds of wood paneling. The part with the light wood paneling is where they added on to the house in the 80's. We were really partial to the pinkish/purple carpet.

One of the 2 other rooms, has a little add on room to it, that is full of shelves. From what I have been told they were full of dolls, stacked to the ceiling.

In the 3rd bedroom, this beauty took up 1 whole wall. Yes that is a moose tapestry, with brown carpet pasted on the wall around it. It is so stunning! LOL, also to top it off the walls had blue stripped wallpaper on the other 3 walls, that was being held on with scotchtape.
So for the most part this is our new home in a nutshell. Next up tomorrow.... The Makeover!

What were we thinking?

Its hard to believe that last July 2nd I was single and living on my own in an apartment. So much has changed in a year. Only July 3rd I went on my first date with my now husband. Within 3 months we were engaged, 6 months after that we were married and now just a little over 3mths since being married we own a house. We don't do things slowly. Or at least it seems that way. Funny thing is, Matt and I are so layed back. We just kind of sit back and relax as others scurry around us.

So as this is my 1st blog about our adventures in well Married life and Home ownership. I think I will keep it simple and introduce the house. Oh, yes the house. Lets just say the 1st time we saw it, well it was like walking into the 70's. Wood paneling everywhere. And when i say everywhere I mean it. I think the only rooms that didnt have it was the bathroom and upstairs hallway. And of course none of it matched and as an extra bonus the kitched had a faux brick/wood paneling combo.
Ahh... Homeowner ship, got to love it.

Here is our home!

I am not a huge fan of the Brown and Yellow color combo, but that easily remided. We are thinking about doing a pretty red or even blue as the accent. Its a 2 car garage, the 2nd one was added on in the early 80's and is slightly smaller, but my car fits perfectly. I guess that means no trucks for me. It has been so long since I have had a garage. I would have done anything to make sure my car fit. :)

See..... I didn't lie when I said that there was wood paneling. This is old barn style. It was even rough, touching it I was afraid I would get splinters. There is an interesting window with spindles that you can see through to the kitchen. Also since the house is about 46 years old the Ceiling fan, was hangning by a chain in the living room. Needless to say that it was a huge safety hazard and wobbled alot.

I wasn't kidding about the brick/wood paneling combo. Yeah, Its something else, of course it is also lacking a garbage disposal and dishwasher. Poor Matt, he is the one that washes dishes in our house and now he has to do it by hand.
I think I will stop here for today, but keep an eye as I will post more info in the days to come. Stay reading so you can see all the amazing remodeling we have done. And we just closed on the house July 22nd.
Super Days and God Bless Ya All!
